OUR MISSION
Expeditions Unlimited exists to impact the lives of youth and adults through the use of God’s creation and outdoor adventure experiences; focusing on partnering with groups to point people towards Christ.
Expeditions Unlimited’s main goal is to create an atmosphere where teachable moments can be used to change lives. We focus on details and logistics so group leaders can focus on growing their team, learning God’s word, and having fun. We serve youth pastors and youth leaders who are passionate about making a lasting impact on students’ lives and promoting true, undistracted worship of our Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
God has given mankind certain tools to be used to find Him and point others towards His Truth. The first is His creation. This world declares the glory of God (Psalm 19) and through introducing people to that creation we believe we will be introducing people to God’s character. Through a greater knowledge of God’s character, people are drawn towards a deeper relationship with Him.
God has also left us His Holy Spirit to convict us of sin, show us God’s purpose for our lives, teach us, and help us. This voice of the Spirit often goes unheard because of the fast paced lives we live and the constant noise we are bombarded with. We believe that the Spirit is more clearly heard when distractions are stripped away and we quiet ourselves enough to listen. Expeditions Unlimited creates an atmosphere that draws people out of their hectic lives and into a quiet that is conducive to listening.
We also believe that God has placed mankind in community with each other. Through relationships we are taught, encouraged, and held accountable. Expeditions Unlimited recognizes this as a powerful truth and has created a place where those relationships can be developed and grown. Our ministry seeks to provide students and adults with the space, both physically and emotionally, that those relationships need in order to blossom and grow.
These three truths form the core of who we are as a ministry. When a community of people who desire to know God or are passionate about pursuing Him are pulled out of their normal environments and given an opportunity to undistractedly reflect on God in His creation, life changing decisions take place both in their lives and the lives of people around them.
Statement of faith
Expeditions Unlimited believes the scriptures are inspired by God, free from error in its original text, to be used as a guide to faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16)
Expeditions Unlimited believes in God, made of three separate but united personalities in the Father (John 3:16), the Son (Hebrews 1:3), and the Holy Spirit (John 14:26 & 2 Corinthians 13:14).
Expeditions Unlimited believes God created man perfect in His own image (Genesis 1:26), but man sinned, resulting in physical and spiritual death, and that all men are born sinful (Romans 3:23).
Expeditions Unlimited believes Jesus Christ is both God and man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin (Matthew 1:20-22 & John 3:16).
Expeditions Unlimited believes Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried and rose on the third day as a substitution payment for the sins of all mankind. Anyone who believes and receives Jesus Christ by faith is born of the Holy Spirit to become a child of God and will have eternal life (John 1:12 & 1 John 5:11-12). Jesus Christ is now in heaven acting as our advocate before the Father (Mark 16:19) and is preparing His eternal kingdom (Hebrews 1:3).
Expeditions Unlimited believes in the personal, imminent return of Jesus Christ to this earth. (Revelation 22:20)
We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female, and that these two distinct complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen. 1:26-27) We believe that God created marriage to be exclusively the union of one man and one woman, and that intimate sexual activity is to occur exclusively within that union. (Gen 2:18-25; 1 Cor. 6:18, 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4)
We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life (Ps. 139).
